Quick Thank You Card

I needed to make a quick Thank You card and wanted to use the stamp set, Ewe Are The Best, from My Favorite Things. along with Lawn Fawn dies and paper.  I'm still learning how to use my Copic Markers and it's a lot of fun playing with them.

The wonderful thing about clear stamp sets is not only do you get a lot of images and sayings for a great price but you can bend sentiments if needed.   Now, I need to make sure that I put the card in an envelope and pop it in the mail!

How Time Flies!

I didn't realize until now that it has been over 6 months since my last post!  Thankfully, things have been going well.  I've been busy with work but I still make time to do some crafting.  Here's a pretty quick card I made using Lawn Fawn's Flamingo Together and Life Is Good stamp set.

My embossing gun was broken when I tried to heat the embossing powder.  I had to go Old School and use the toaster to heat the letters up.  (Yes, there was a time before embossing guns! LOL!)

I hope you have a great day!!

Paris Cross Stitch

Hi, everyone!  I hope you have been having a good summer.  I can't believe it is August already.  It's been hot here in Colorado and I discovered that cross stitch was the perfect hobby for this weather.  I'd sit in the living room under the ceiling fan and stitch away.

I started cross stitching years ago and put it down for 15 years.  Last year I started picking up some great magazines from the UK again.  It was a happy moment when I opened up my Longaberger Picnic basket and found all my floss clean, organized, and ready to use.

This past May, I got to spend a week in Paris with my sister and brother in law.  After that trip,  I decided that I'd start stitching some of the places that I've been lucky to have visited as a special memento.

This pattern is from the Cross Stitch Crazy magazine.  What drew me to it is the vibrant colors.  I still need to get it framed but at least all the hard work is done.

Is there a hobby that you put aside for awhile and returned to it later?  I'd love to hear what it was.

Purrfect Pair Card

I know it has been ages since I last posted to my blog.  I've still been crafting here and there but just not taking the time to blog about it.  I like to dabble in many hobbies so lately, I've been knitting and  cross stitching instead of paper crafting.  (I guess I should share those projects with you all.)   If you feel like it, drop by Facebook and like the page, The Crafty Kitten.  I've been sharing some of my projects there.

Here's a card I made awhile back using Mama Elephant stamps.  When I saw the Purrfect Pair stamp set,  I knew it was one that I just had to have.  I used Copics for color and Lawn Fawn paper for the background.

I hope you enjoy it!

Kitty Friend Card

Hi, everyone!  Thought I'd share with you a quick 3x3 card that I made using Joy's Life's Lot's Of Pun, Paper Smooches' Nine Lives stamp set, and washi tape.  I sent one to Joy to show my appreciation for letting me be part of her wonderful design team.

I had fun coloring these images and the 3x3 format seems to work well for me.  I'll be making more of these in the future.

Hope you have a good week!

A Very Belated Blog Hop Winner!!

Wow!  How can it be that my last post was in August?   Time sure does fly!  Well to give you a update as to what I've been up to, I decided to take time off from blogging and focus a little more on work and other hobbies.

In September, our house was one of many that experienced flooding during the heavy rains in Colorado.  While we were VERY fortunate to still have a roof over our heads, there was a lot of work to be done since our basement was now a wall to wall carpet soaked mess.  We decided that we could handle doing all the flooring and painting ourselves....so that's what became my next project!

Here are shots of the hallway and family room after we finished it.

We also did two more bedrooms and the storage room for a total of 1000 sq ft.  It was lots of work but it was really gratifying!  So gratifying that we started work in the living room painting the second fireplace and having a wood stove installed.   (Isn't that how things go?)

You guys have waited so long so without further ado, the winner of this blog hop with her choice of any Joy's Life stamp is:

Claire, please email me your mailing address to Crafty_kitten@mac.com and choice of Joy's Life stamp and I'll get it out to you ASAP!

Thanks to everyone who dropped by.  I hope the past few months have been kind to you!

I have been working on some paper crafts and hope to get some posted on my blog soon!

Take care,

Patty

Joy's Life Fun Card Folds Birthday Blog Hop!

I'm so glad you could stop by the Crafty Kitten for Joy's Life's Fun Card Folds Birthday Blog Hop

This will be my last Blog Hop post for awhile as a member of Joy's team so it's a little bittersweet.  Everything's going ok...I'm just taking a little time off to craft for the holidays and do some traveling.  :)

If you came here from Lori's blog, then you're in the right place.   If you stumbled on this post, and want experience all the fun from the beginning, you can start here.

For this hop, I decided to do what I call a Modified Gate Fold Card.  Here's a pic of it closed.

Here's what it looks like when you swing the gates open.

The stamp I used is from Joy's Yummy Puns set.  You can grab your own set here.

To create this card, start with a white base. Cut the pink paper at 11.5" x 4" and score it at 2 7/8 x 8 5/8.

Tape a scalloped Nestability to the paper and run that side through your CuttleBug.  Tape it to the other side of the gate and run it again. (You can't tell from my pics but I managed to emboss each side with a polka dot folder.)

For the frame on the front, use two of the scallops at the same timeAfter adhering it to the front of the card, carefully cut the frame in half.  Embellish the inside to your taste. (I cut the inside scallop slightly larger than the window.)

Down By The Creek Bank Frog Card

Hi, all!  This week, I've got a post for you as part of Joy's Life's Design Team.

Joy came up with the super cute theme this week....Down By The Creek Bank.  I remember as a kid catching night crawlers with my dad and finding salamanders in the window wells.  Yes, I was a tomboy.

Growing up, I didn't see many frogs around but I wanted to use one for my project. This one is from Cricut's Create A Critter cartridge.

Lot's Of Pun was the first stamp set that I bought from Joy! You can get yours here.

For this weeks card, I used DoodleBug's Flower Box paper set.  The card is 4.25 x 5.5 in size.  I cut the frog at 3.5" and then played around with the paper strips to figure out what size I wanted.  I stamped the saying on a strip of white paper and then cut the tab by hand.  After adding stitching, ribbon, and a plastic flower, the card was done!

Thanks for coming along with me on a trip down memory lane!  I hope you'll leave a comment and share one of your favorite memories with me.

Cupcake Cat Card

Hi, everyone!  Thanks for stopping by!  Today I have a Friend Shaped Card for you on behalf of JoysLife's Design Team.

You can tell by the name of my blog that I LOVE cats!  They've been cherished family members to my hubby and I over the years.

When I saw this file, I thought this would be a sweet card to make for a friend.

Slip off the cupcake liner to reveal
this sweet saying from Joy's Yummy Puns stamp set.

Here's a closeup of that great stamp!

Packed with fun sentiments, you can grab your own set of Yummy Puns here

To recreate this card using your cutting machine, resize the SVG file so it will fit in a 4.25x5.5 envelope. Add some dry embossing and crystals to make your project sparkle.  I cut the cat out of black paper since it reminds me of my cat, Moonlight.

Maybe he approves.

Well, that's all I have for you today.  I hope you have a great one!  Thank you for taking the time to leave comments.  They mean a lot to me. :)

Joy's Life 3D Summer Blog Hop

Glad you could stop by the Crafty Kitten and join Joy's Life's Design Team for our 3D Summer Blog Hop!   We thought we'd have some Summer fun before it's over!

If you came here from Jennifer's blog, you're in the right place. If you stumbled on this post, and want to start at the beginning do so at Joy's blog here.

When I found out what the subject of the hop was going to be, I immediately knew what I wanted to create.

The stamp I used comes from one of my favorite of Joy's stamp sets, Pun In The Sun!

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut this SVG cuts file  from DCWV's Green Stack paper pack.

Don't you just love the details, such as the curtains?  I may give this to my sister who just got an Airstream or I may be selfish and keep it for myself!  ;)

Festive Flower Card

Hi, everyone!  Glad you could join me during Joy's Life's Design Team Free For All Week.  Which means that we could have even more fun than usual and create without limitations.

I've got a simple but colorful card for you that would be easy for you to recreate.

The stamp I used is from Joy's new My Hero stamp set.

If you haven't already done so already, you can get your own set here.

This card is sized for an A-2 envelope.  I used Doodlebug papers (my favorite) and templates from Kiwi Lane
Designs to create it.  Inking around the edges, hand drawn stitching, and a button tops it off.

Well, that is all that I have for you today.  I appreciate you dropping by!

And in case you haven't heard,  Google Reader is no longer available.  If you haven't done so already,  I'd appreciate it if you chose to

Joy's Life Red, White, and Blue Blog Hop

Glad you could stop by the Crafty Kitten and join us for Joy's Life's Design Team's Red, White, and Blue Blog Hop!  With July just around the corner, we're featuring patriotic projects.

If you came here from Stacey's blog, you're in the right place.  If you stumbled on this post, and want to start at the beginning do so at Joy's blog here.

I've used Doodlebug Designs paper and stickers to make four quickie cards for you.  If you find yourself in a pinch for time, grab yourself a page of stickers and you can have a set of cards ready in no time.

This first card features a stamp from Joy's Pun In The Sun set.  It can be meant as an encouragement for someone you know entering the service.

This next card would be perfect for that special someone heading off to the Air Force.  I cut out the inside of the flag sticker and filled it with a saying from Joy's Pun In The Sun set.

This firecracker card, made with a stamp from Joy's My Hero set, could be given to your loved one who's deployed to let them know that despite the distance, you're a great team.

Want to say thank you to a hero in your life? This quick card embellished with a star shaped brad and stamp from My Hero would work.

I think Joy's stamps add a nice finishing touch to projects made with stickers.

*** Now how about some GREAT Blog Candy?? ***

I'm going to give away your choice of ANY Joy's Life stamp set!

Just leave me a comment on which card you like best and you'll be in the drawing for the stamp set.

You'll have until Sunday, July 6th to leave your comment.  It's that easy to win!

*** Now head over to Lori's blog.  She's very talented and has a great patriotic project for you! ***

Joy's Life Beach Crab Summer Card

Hi, everyone!  It's been awhile but here I am with my first project for JoysLife.com in a quite some time.

I'm still helping run Joy's Life's Design Team but it was a nice change to go in my room and do some crafting!

The first day of Summer just around the corner and we've been celebrating it this past week.

When I saw this cute crab image in the Silhouette store, I knew I had to make a project with him!

Here's a closeup of the stamp I used from Joy's Pun In The Sun set.  If you ink it up well, it will stamp great on Bazzill paper.

The card is a standard 4.25x5.5" but I cut the paper vertically for a change.  I used a variety of textured papers on it.  To keep it from looking so plain, I used glitter and hand drawn stitching.

Well, that is all for me today!  I hope you all are having a great time and enjoying the summer! :)
